this car smells like cigarettes
desert a little bit like you
I’m 10 minutes outside Birmingham
stop to sleep or maybe just drive through

I’m racing across the fields
counting heartbeats in the dark
dragged across this world
still looking for my spark
memories flashing by
and all I can do
is sit and wonder why
wishing I could fly

pass billboards full of smiles
lined along the old concrete
ain’t seen a car for miles
what I wouldn’t do to hear you speak (to me again)

back and forth from town to town
I stop but I never stay
I gone round so many times
wore a hole in this highway
