Beaten and Exhausted

To all the beaten and exhausted, we can still see you from here
From our mountains made impassable
Where you’ll ascend without an end
So with the roofs over our heads we never feel the bitterness of the night
And all those faces pay so handsomely to breath
Sacrifices, never meant anything to me

I’m so beaten and exhausted, I can hardly trick my eyes
Our monster here’s intangible and their minimums a lie
So with the roofs over our heads we never see
But those lonely five hours a night
And all those face stretching dollars to the brink
Like they’ve been here, just two paychecks from the street

There will always be a little more to lose
There will always be those points we’ll have to choose
Between our callings and the nature of success
There will always be a difference
